41ST AVENUE COMMUNITY CENTER

Community Resource Project, Inc. has long been a champion of fostering innovative programs through strategic community partnerships.  We have teamed with various local non-profit organizations to create One Stop Centers throughout Sacramento, which bring together multiple agencies to offer a variety of social services under one roof.

The 41st Avenue Community Center, our most ambitious One Stop partnership to date, will bring a variety of social services to The Avenues, a well-established South Sacramento neighborhood.  Located on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and 41st Avenue, the center will be a hub that connects local residents with multiple community-based organizations offering employment and training programs, youth services, small business and microenterprise courses, as well as an incubator kitchen program and a day labor center.

Partners

Community Resource Project, Inc. is working with a large and diverse group of partners to build the 41st Avenue Community Center.  Here are just some of our supporters: Sacramento County Supervisor Jimmie Yee, Sacramento City Councilmember Lauren Hammond, The California Endowment, Sacramento Housing & Redevelopment Agency, Kaiser Permanente, Campbell’s Soup Company, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, North Franklin District Business Association, La Familia Counseling Center, California State University, Sacramento, Sacramento County Neighborhood Services, Sacramento Municipal Utilities District, Sacramento Credit Union, Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce.

Services

Three local non-profit organizations will offer the core services at the 41st Avenue Community Center: Asian Resources, Inc., Opening Doors, Inc., and Community Resource Project, Inc. Asian Resources, Inc. will provide money management, micro-enterprise, and pre-employment / career development workshops.  These classes will engage members of the community wishing to improve their money management skills, start or grow a small business, or re-enter the workforce. Opening Doors, Inc. will facilitate the World’s Kitchen, an incubator kitchen program designed to provide the appropriate space and opportunity for caterers, food vendors, and those wishing to open a restaurant.  Participants will learn business skills, health and sanitation codes, and utilize a restaurant-class kitchen in which to cook their wares. Community Resource Project, Inc. will run a day laborer center, with a focus on improved health and safety, as well as leadership training.  We will also provide health and nutrition services through our WIC program, as well as free medical and dental screenings.
